Insect Oasis

We took a day off and went for a short walk yesterday near one of our local museums. Besides the fornicating beetles;

the damsel flies

and bugs of unknown classification

we spied this;

Obviously it was a resting place of some kind. Complete with park bench. It has a sign on it

You would think that a place for wayward monarchs would be more ... well .... palatial?

Your pictures are always great quality. What camera do you use? I've been looking for a new digital but can't decide. Thanks!

I have an old Sony Cyber-shot 3.3 mega pixel camera that cost me around $750 in 2000. In a couple of years they will be giving them away in boxes of Frosted Flakes!
Does anyone remember how much digital watches and calculators used to cost? They don't even put them in cereal boxes anymore!

Ooh, the cute unknown critter is some sort of leafhopper!

The waystation is a neat idea-- I'd never seen one before. I'd love to do that with my front yard. :)
